Workshop to discuss Workers' Compensation law
STILLWATER, Okla.–The Worker’s Compensation Court is conducting a workshop about workers’ compensation law for new and existing business.
This workshop is sponsored by Meridian Technology Center for Business Development and the Food & Agricultural Products Center. The workshop will be held at the Meridian Technology Center for Business Development in Stillwater, Okla. on June 7 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
This workshop will instruct participants on coverage requirements, benefits payable, workplace medical plans and tax credits. The topics will include:
- Coverage Requirements and Exemptions
- Certificates of Non-coverage
- Benefits Payable
- How the Workers’ Compensation System and Court Work
- Certified Workplace Medical Plans
- Multiple Injury Trust Fund
- Workers’ Compensation Fraud Penalties
“Workers’ compensation law is a very important topic for companies to know and understand,” said Diane Maddox, office coordinator for Meridian Technology Center.
The workshop will be led by Gerry Moony, Workers’ Compensation Court counselor.
Erin Early, FAPC business planning and marketing client coordinator, said this workshop would be a great value to many of FAPC new and existing food companies.
“We cannot stress enough the importance of adequate business planning, including learning as much as possible about all the different facets of owning a small business which can only save a business money in the long run and help each owner make sound decisions,” Early said.
The fee is $10, which covers materials and refreshments. Space is limited and advanced registration is required.
